Because the Work of Leaders' Session includes an assessment, the deadline for registration is September 11, 2020.
Descriptions for each session are listed below:
The Work of Leaders: What Does the Research Say?
September 29, 2020
The work that leaders do—that really matters—can be boiled down to three areas: crafting a vision, building alignment, and championing execution. This session provides data compiled over 30 years of leadership research to provide knowledge on the specific, tangible behaviors and best practices needed to truly lead and effectively influence others to achieve big goals.
The Art of Influencing Others
November 11, 2020
Influence is a tool of successful leaders - being able to affect influence or win others to your way of thinking by commanding respect and allowing you the authority to affect outcomes. Too often we assume only a person with positional/line authority can do this. However, influencing goes beyond positions of power and encompasses more subtle skills like empathy and active listening. It is rooted in effective communication skills and self-understanding. This session will demonstrate how to have a strong sense of self-awareness and display authenticity and integrity in interactions with others, leading to improved working relationships and opportunities to see your ideas grow.
Preparing for the Role of the Superintendent
February 25, 2021
Part I of this session will address the primary leadership development need for the cohort based on the aggregate assessment results from their Work of Leaders session. Part II of the session will outline the critical skills and experiences expected by school boards and needed to compete effectively for the position of superintendent.
