Assistant Principal Foundations

(for Early Career Assistant Principals)

This program strand provides four workshops designed to support the preparation and development of new assistant principals in the critical and core responsibilities of their role, including understanding their accountabilities and span of control, time and priority management, classroom management and critical communication skills, and effective leadership of faculty.

Aspiring Principals

(for Assistant Principals with 2+ years of experience in the role)

This three-year program supports assistant principals who seek to assume the responsibilities of the principalship. Experienced assistant principals bring a level of leadership acumen but often lack the full skill set needed to move into a principalship role. Workshops include content designed to support development on four strategic functions, including data-driven planning, finance, vision-setting, and talent management. Ideally, districts will refer assistant principals developing for the role of principalship, but assistant principals may also self-refer and participate in the program for career growth and self-development.

Participants who fully complete all elements in the first two years of the Aspiring Principal program (Silver and Gold strands) are eligible for the third year (Platinum strand), which includes a robust leadership assessment process, executive coaching, individual development plan, individually assigned mentor, tailored workshops targeting identified development needs, and experiential development focusing on targeted plan goals.
