Platinum Aspiring Principals Program - 2019

Columbia, SC US

The Center for Executive Education Leadership (CEEL) Platinum program offerings have been designed to help you in your professional and personal growth. Participants in the platinum program must attend all three sessions.

Descriptions for each session are listed below:

Leader = Decision Maker

September 17, 2019

You are a school leader.  Effective decision-making is priority one. In this session we will examine the components of effective decision making and give you opportunities to practice and examine your abilities through activities, scenarios, and case studies. Are you aware of the importance of looking at root causes, selecting the “right” problem to solve, and predicting what could go wrong? Good decision-making is a blend of your IQ and your EQ. Come prepared to examine all aspects of decision-making and to go home with better tools to lead effectively.

Fiscal Management for Aspiring Principals

November 12, 2019

The responsibilities of the assistant principal do not often include the fiscal processes of school leadership, yet adequate preparation for managing the complexities of a school’s finances is critical for those interested in pursuing the principalship.  In this session participants will explore and gain greater understanding of the critical real-world fiscal responsibilities of the role of principal, including preparation of a school budget as a record of projected revenue and expenditure; monitoring the school’s fundraising activities to ensure the funds are used for the appropriate purpose; and accounting for the school’s revenue and how it is spent.  In addition, participants will discuss common pitfalls many administrators face when dealing with athletic budgets, donations and sponsorships.

The Art of Influencing

January 15, 2020

Effective leadership as a principal requires having strong influencing skills.  Whether it’s influencing without authority, influencing change with authority, or influencing the agenda of senior leaders at the district office, the ability to influence is key to a leader’s success.  This workshop will help aspiring principals quickly grasp the fundamental principles of effective influence, build self-awareness, and become equipped with the tactics to do so.   This session offers a practice and streamlined model and the opportunity to apply the influence skills and to real-life scenarios.
