Descriptions for each session are listed below:

The Work of Leaders: What Does the Research Say?

October 19, 2022

The work that leaders do—that really matters—is comprised of three primary areas of action: crafting a vision, building alignment, and championing execution. This session focuses on each area, separately providing information on the research-based tangible behaviors and best practices required to truly lead and effectively influence others to achieve significant goals.

It Worked for Me in Life and Leadership (Book Study)

December 8, 2022

In book study format, participants will discover and discuss in small teams the principles that shaped the life and career of one of America’s most admired public figures, General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.).  At its heart, the study will reveal Powell’s 13 Rules, notes he gathered over the years that now form the basis of his leadership presentations.  His short but sweet rules, including “Get mad, then get over it” and “Share credit”, are illustrated by revealing personal stories that introduce and expand upon what he believes are the most important principles: conviction, hard work, and respect for others.

A few weeks prior to the session, you will be receiving the book It Worked for Me in Life and Leadership, by Colin Powell, to prepare for your participation.

Leading People Through Change

March 9, 2023

This session is designed to improve the senior leader’s effectiveness in both change management and change leadership.  It will include a study of how the content in sections of the book, Leaders Eat Last, specifically impacts change efforts. Unfortunately, many employees suffer when leaders fail to understand the stages employees go through during a change.  The simple truth is that understanding these stages leads to faster and more effective change efforts.  Focusing on communication, collaboration, and commitment helps to insure that your senior leadership team, middle-level leaders, and the wider district organization are fully aligned with your change efforts, thereby yielding the results that matter.

A few weeks prior to the session, you will be receiving the book Leaders Eat Last, by Simon Sinek, to prepare for your participation.
